Graduate Response Approach

All children at St. Matthew's are supported through the Graduated Response Approach. This approach has 3 levels - Universal, Targeted and Specialist.

The Universal Level begins with the Quality First Teaching provided to all children. Some children may require additional support in order to make progress, and will also receive support from the Targeted Level. This means they may receive additional interventions at school. A small group of children may need support at the Specialist Level. Your child's class teacher and the school SENCO can talk to you about what this looks like for your child - it may mean referrals to agencies such as Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or it may mean that your child has an EHCP or Early Support Funding in place.
