General Admissions

For applications for starting school in September 2022, the deadline for receipt of appeals is Wednesday 18 May 2022.  Details of how to appeal is included in the admission policy.

This section contatins the Admission Policy for St. Matthew's C.E. Primary School.   Each year, the School admits 60 pupils in Reception. Our over-subscription criteria can be found in our Admissions Policy. There are 420 full-time places for children in Reception through to Year 6, with 2 classes in each Year group. Children who attend St. Matthew's Nursery do not automatically get a place in St. Matthew's C.E. Primary School and parents must apply for Reception school places at the prescribed time, via their local authority.

In Year Applications

For Academic Year Sept 2021 – Aug 2022

St Matthew’s CE Primary School welcomes applications for admission to the school at any time during the school year. Applications can be made directly to the school by completing our application form, or through the local authority. If applying directly, any supporting documentation (Church Reference Form or Medical / Social needs evidence) and proof of the home address should be included with your application form.

Applications made directly to St Matthew’s are dealt with by the Frays Academy Trust’s Admissions Officer, who will contact you to confirm that a place is available. If your required Year group is full, you will be offered an alternative place at another school within the Trust whilst being added to the waiting list for St Matthew’s. You will receive a response within 5 school days of making your application. Please note that the waiting list is in order of our oversubscription criteria, and not dependent on when the application was made (full details of this can be found on the relevant Admissions Policy). All unsuccessful applicants have the right to appeal against the decision. Please contact the Frays Academy Trust Admissions Officer on 01895 462352 for more information.

Once an offer of a school place is made, you will have 2 weeks to contact the school and accept the offer. If no contact has been made once the deadline has passed, we reserve the right to withdraw the offer.

Details of all direct applications received are shared with the local authority.

If you have any questions regarding this process, or would like to arrange a visit to our school, please contact the Admissions Officer on 01895 462352. We look forward to hearing from you.
