Supporting Our Community

Throrughout the year, the children and staff at St Matthew's do what we can to support our local community. Our school values of friendship and compassion remind us that we should try to help others in any way that we can.

Overthe past year, St Matthew’s has supported We Act by holding a 'We Are Silent Day', Children in Need, local food banks, local families through community churches, the Poppy Appeal and Cancer Research. We have also supported our link school in Kamweze, raising fuds to help them to buy their first computer!

Here are some of the ways we have supported our community recently!

At Harvest we spent time reflecting on our school values of gratitude for all that we have, and compasion for those who are less fortunate. To celebrate Harvest 2019, the children donated food to the Yiewsley and West Drayton Food Bank in partnership with St Matthew's Church. This will help to make sure that everyone in our community gets enough to eat.

Dementia Cafe

Our Year 4 children have really enjoyed visiting the Dementia Cafe at St Matthew's Church this past year. They have had opportunities to make new friends and play games. The children demonstrated our school values of friendship and compassion in taking the time to offer companionship to members of our commuity suffering from dementia, and their families.

Operation Christmas Child - 2019

Each Christmas we share compassion around the world by supporting Operation Christmas Child in partnership with St Matthew's Church. It is so rewarding to give back at this time of year, beyond our own community. Thanks to the children of St Matthew's, children around the world can open their very own Christmas presents!

Christmas Hampers

Each Christmas we support our local community by making Christmas hampers, which are donated to Bell Farm Christian Centre. The children decorate the hampers to spread Christmas cheer, and fill them with lots of goodies to help families have a wonderful Christmas time.

Carol Singing

At Christmas 2019, some of our children visited Drayton Gardens Care Home to spread some Christmas cheer to the residents living there. It was lovely to see how happy they were to see the children, and the children were reminded to think of others at this busy time of year.
