Prayer

At St Matthew's we believe in the importance of prayer as a means of being closer to God. Children have opportunities to pray in daily worship, in class prayer corners and also in our quiet garden. Children also say prayers at lunchtime and at the end of the day. The children's thoughtful prayers in worship demonstrate how well they have listened and reflected, and their closeness to God.  The Lord's Prayer is very special and important to us at St Matthew's, and the children love to come together to say the prayer with their actions - it is such a powerful thing to see!

Our School Prayer

Dear heavenly Father up above,

Look down on St Matthew’s School with love.

Shower us with happiness,

And shield us from sadness.

Together forever,

Amen

Our Prayer Spaces

Each of our classrooms has its own prayer space. Children are also invited to use the quiet garden for prayer.

Prayer and Worship

At special times of the year, children are invited to bring their prayers into worship for us to share them together.
